For guided days and climbing classes, both Global Rescue membership and travel insurance with at least $100,000 in medical coverage are required.
TRAVEL INSURANCE
Travel insurance is very important for your trip to Mexico because domestic policies usually will not cover you in Mexico for medical expenses. Having assisted with climbing accidents in El Potrero Chico over 17 years of climbing and guiding, I have seen the first question ambulances ask: Does the patient have insurance? Without insurance, you may be taken to a public hospital, which may not have as high a standard of care. When you buy your entrance to El Potrero Chico, they are now even registering your insurance policy so it can be passed to the ambulances.
